The Naked Raver, book excerpt (due for release Spring 2012)
We are in a coffee shop, sat by the window. Sarah sits with her back to the wall and I with my back to the public.
The effects are in full swing now, and I see Sarah in a different way. I see through her veil and glance something new.
The veil is her ego: her conscious mind. It wears a pity-me dress designed by friends and family. Her shoes are worn down on the heel: heavily trodden along the road of no-one understands.
This attire does not fit the moment. She is capable. I see it. I saw how she ran. I believe she is not disabled. This is the role she has assigned herself.
So I tell her: The Sarah sat in front of me is beautiful. She is not fat. Her legs do not bend in every place except the knee. She is glowing and this glow is deep within. I see it.
She looks shocked at my revelation: first of all for saying I don’t buy into society’s disadvantaged label, and secondly for telling her she is beautiful.
